Death of Azaria Chamberlian

August of 1980, Michael Chamberlain and his wife Lindy Chamberlain took their three children — two young boys, six-year-old Aidan and four-year-old Reagan, and their nine-week-old daughter, Azaria — on a family camping trip to Uluru in Northern Territory, Australia. Uluru is a large sandstone formation and a significant landmark to the Aboriginal people of Australia. [1]

On the morning of 17th of August 1980, Lindy took Azaria to explore Fertility Cave nearby Uluru campground while Michael and their two sons went climbing. She reported seeing a dingo staring at her and baby Azaria just outside the cave.

That night, the Chamberlains and other campers gathered around the barbecue for a chatter. At around 8 p.m., Lindy went back to the tent to put Azaria to sleep. She left Azaria with her son, Reagan, before rejoining the campers at the barbecue bench. A cry from the tent sent Lindy running back to investigate. Lindy saw a dingo coming out of the tent and screamed the famous line: “My God, My God, the dingo’s got my baby!”
