Grace Emmie Rose Millane was from Essex, United Kingdom. She was very loved by her friends and described by her family as “a young, vibrant girl who set out to see the world.” She took a year off to go backpacking after graduating with a bachelor degree from the University of Lincoln. She spent six weeks in South America before heading to New Zealand. She arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, on 30 November 2018.
On 1 December, she messaged her friend back in Britain that she was going on a Tinder date that night. “I click with him so well,” she told her friend. She headed out from her hotel to meet her Tinder date, Jesse Kempson, at the Sky Tower. The pair went to different bars around town for drinks. Millane was seen smiling and appeared to be having a great time. She was last seen that night on CCTV at 9:41 pm at CityLife Hotel with Kempson.
