Background

The Zodiac Killer is one of America’s most prolific serial murderers who terrorised Northern California in the late 1960s. The Zodiac had been connected to five known victims in the San Francisco Bay Area between December 1968 and October 1969 but claimed to have killed 37 people. 2 of the victims survived. He targeted young couples and a lone male cab driver. He would taunt the police with riddles and codes that were sent to news outlets until 1974. He would also include blood-stained clothing in the letters as proof.

The Case Breakers, which is an independent team of more than 40 detectives, journalists, and military intelligence, have identified the Zodiac killer as Gary Francis Poste.

This breakthrough was made by using new physical and forensic evidence and information. The team was able to link the Zodiac killer to a murder case hundreds of miles away that was never previously connected to him. Gary passed away in 2018 but the group managed to secure…
