Update to the case: Sadler allegedly lured Brettner to his house to resolve some arguments over Brettner's increasing drug supplier debt. During the trial, Sadler admitted to disposing the body but claimed drug dealers from Victoria (another state in Australia) killed Brettner. The judge dismissed his claims and Salder was sentenced to 32 years in jail. He would be eligible for parole after serving 20 years behind bars. In an extraordinary act of forgiveness, Brettner's mother forgave Salder saying, " Every life is precious, even Jack's life is precious, he just went down the wrong road too. And if that man [Sadler] hopefully turns his life around, and I hope to God that he does, it's all I can hope for."
